Stock & Pickers App
In early 2022, I had the opportunity to build two Progressive Web Apps at hatch for the swiss foodience holding Valora.
At the time, Valora was thinking of building a service to buy groceries online - similar to services like Gorillas. The apps I worked on were designed for internal use.
Pickers App
When a user would order online, the Pickers App would alert the responsible team to pick the items in the store and hand it over to a delivery person. The app supported scanning barcodes: After scanning all products from the order, the picker had the opportunity to mark the order as picked.
I also implemented a part of the Backend: Each order needed to be printed on a receipt. I used the printer's native tools to generate the receipt and endpoints that the printer polled.
Stock App
To keep the information about available stock updated, a second app was created. It followed a lot of the patterns of the first app, but included a feature to search for products too.
For both apps, I used React. Because both apps use similar components, this was the first time I seriously had to think about reusability. Many learnings from the creation of these apps ended up influencing the headless design system.
End of 2022, Valora was brought by the Mexican Corporation Femsa. Around that time, said service was discontinued.
